A Mat Rempit is a Malaysian term for an "individual who participates in Illegal Racing". Mat Rempits gather at a certain location to perform these dangerous stunts and illegal racing for the sake of fun or even for betting purpose. Over the years, they have branch out to even more daring pursuits like robberies, snatch theft, pick pockets and other activities that endanger the lives of the public.

Mat Rempits have poor morale values but they are excellent risk takers. If only the Mat Rempits use their risk taking capabilities in a good manner they could excel in their studies or even by doing some business.

Many awareness programs and campaigns have been carried but yet they have fallen on deaf ears. We can't just blame the Mat Rempits but their parents also have to be responsible as they do play an important role in this as well. If their parents bother to know who their friends are or the crowd they hang out with, their illegal activities could be stopped before it becomes a habit.

Most of the Mat Rempits are from broken families or families where the parents are too busy working. Therefore, the Mat Rempits go out late at night to hang out with friends just to fill their boredom or to be where they have a sense of belonging.
