2008 Proton Gen2 Facelift

The new Proton Gen2 facelift has arrived in Malaysia after it was revealed in Thailand some time ago. Gen2 was the first Proton car with the Campro engine. With this new facelift, it gets a new Campro based series of engines.

Proton offers 2 versions for the new facelift – medium line and high line. The medium line features a new Campro 1.6 IAFM engine. The 1.6 IAFM engine produce 110 horsepower at 6,000rpm and 148Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The new engine is believed to solve the infamous torque dip of the barebones Campro engine, and should be alot better to drive around the city as users do not need to rev high to get sufficient torque for acceleration.

The high line features a 1.6 liter CPS engine. It produces 125 horsepower at 6,500rpm and 150Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, while also making at least 139Nm of torque from 3,000rpm onwards.

The interior adopts the Persona’s interior design – a dashboard without the odd clock in the middle and features power window switches on the door arm rest.. The highline version features leather seats and with black and red trim. It also gets Dual SRS Airbags, ABS brakes and EBD. Added to that is Automatic Cruise Control. While the medium version only gets a driver’s airbag.

The new Proton Gen2 facelift comes in 4 colours – Nanbu Black, Hibiscus Tea, Metal Grey and Iridescent White. The prices range from RM53,488 to RM60,488.
